Bakelite and Plastic Polish

Two types of polish the first Polishing Paste No5. Its a mild abrasive ideal for polishing Bakelite. I believe it was used by the Post Office.

Felt Knob Washers

For use behind radio knobs to protect the cabinet. Made from medium brown wool. The shaft hole is 1/4 inch (6mm)

 Solder

Real solder 60/40 Lead Tin with flux. ideal for repairing old equipment. Their is no need to use Lead free solder when repairing old equipment or when making up a circuit at home. Indeed at the moment their is quite a lot of products that are exempt from the RoHS regulations. If you want Lead Free solder we can of course supply it to order. Melting Temp is 188°C recommended minimum bit Temp is 300°C

Multicore Savbit Alloy Solder

Multicore Savbit solder is the preferred choice of many the small precise amount of copper in the alloy helps prevent pitting and deterioration of soldering iron bits. Melting Temp 215°C Recommended bit temp.

Desoldering wick

A braided wick that is coated with a rosin-free flux, which does not need need to be cleaned after use. This is ideal for removing solder from joints making component replacement much easier 

   Desoldering Tools

A useful addition to any workbench just press down the plunger melt the solder place the tool in the molten pool and press the plunger release button. The tips are Teflon coated and are easily removed for cleaning & replacement.

Electric Desoldering tool

This tool is ideal for one handed operation it includes a ceramic heating element, and a vacuum pump similar to the tool listed above. the heated tip is used to melt the solder then the pump plunger is released to suck the solder away from the joint. supplies with 1.5mtrs wire with a 13A fused plug

 ANTEX Soldering Irons
With Plug
We supply the well known Antex soldering irons, not just because they are known for their quality, but also because spare elements and replacement tips are available. I have lost count of the number of irons I've thrown away just because I couldn't replace a worn out tip. I have used an Antex iron for years, and despite leaving it on overnight on more than one occasion, I have never needed to replace an element, but at least they are available if one is ever needed.

Quicktest Mains Connector

I have several of these fitted to different workbenches, they are so useful saves messing about fitting mains plugs when all you really want to do is power up the latest project. all mine are fed through isolating transformers. So I always have a convenient way of connecting to 240V for testing.

Meters

We have a range of multi-meters suitable for all applications. we start with a range of Analogue meters because we still believe that there are many applications where, they are better than their digital counterparts if this was not true why are AVO still making them? Our analogue meters are much cheaper than those in the AVO range but are more than capable of dealing with our needs.

First we have a nice cheap meter ideal for the home workshop or garage and general use. They are ideal for use in radio circuits. If you have more than one you can have them permanently connected to various point of a circuit to help locate an intermittent fault one on each anode of a mixer valve for example.
